7 from 2007 Criteria and Methodology
Gadberry Group used a statistical ranking system to qualify Places for consideration for the 7 in 2007 program. Each of the variables was ranked independently to produce a national rank and then summed to produce a composite rank. The primary variables used in the ranking system include:
- Household change from Census 2000 to current numbers
- Household change from the end of 2006 to the end of 2007
- Percentage Household change from Census 2000 to current numbers
- Percentage Household change from the end of 2006 to the end of 2007
- Change in Ethnic composition from Census 2000 to the end of 2007
- Change in Household Income from Census 2000 to the end of 2007
- Presence of emerging Census blocks (blocks with less than 10 households in Census 2000 to more than 100 households at the end of 2007)
Gadberry Group data vs. Census data
Most researchers agree that census data is the standard for understanding the distribution and demographic makeup of the U.S. population. But as we approach 2008, Census data is almost eight years old. Using household geo-demographics, which includes current households, population and demographic data, Gadberry Group's data provides the most up-to-date information for rapidly changing markets.
